Southwest Neighborhood Housing Services is dedicated to reversing neighborhood decline. We are committed to upgrading existing housing, as well as providing low-interest loans, information and referrals. Our clients receive financial and technical counseling. SNHS serves the residents of the Board designated target areas in and around Bernalillo, Valencia, Sandoval and Torrance counties.

SWNHS works in partnership with Bank of America and the Bernalillo County Housing Authority, the city of Rio Rancho, MFA, Rural Community Assistance Corporation, Little Dixie Rural Development, Union Savings Bank and other agencies to provide programs to our clients.

SWNHS of Albuquerque is dedicated to working closely with Albuquerque neighborhoods to improve the quality of their homes and communities by promoting leadership from within. SNHS strives to provide resources to help very low, low and moderate income families in Albuquerque develop the capacity to maintain and improve the quality of their homes and create opportunities for increased home ownership. Creating the American dream is our most important goal.

Incorporated in 1975, Southwest Neighborhood Housing Services was built on the dreams and determination of a handful of downtown residents. These hard working community members believed in the ability of local residents, financial institutions, businesses, and local government to come together to identify community needs and plan successful strategies to address them. That belief created and has sustained SWNHS over a 30 year history of success.

Affordable housing is a primary mission of the organization. With that in mind, SWNHS has conducted home buyer education and counseling for 1,040 families in 2005. As a result, we have assisted 900 families to become successful home owners, doubling their efforts each year over the last three years. SWNHS also has worked with local developers to build 20 new affordable homes over the last two years and has established partnerships that will make as many as 200 new affordable homes available over the next three years.

Southwest Neighborhood Housing Services is located in Albuquerque's historic Downtown Neighborhood at the corner of 15th Street and Lomas.  We employ a team of dedicated housing counselors who are determined to help you own the home of your dreams.
